The Help by Kathryn Stockett
and
Wench by Dolen Perkins-valdez
Both chronicle the roles black women have played in the birthing of this country. From being the mistresses of their slave masters to being the maids and mammys to those same slave owner’s children and future generations.
Should be interesting. I’ll let you know what I think.

I can't hide who I am
I think it’s pretty funny the perception that people have of me, or even how I sometimes catch myself acting. I could never be that girl that ran around talking about how my degrees and my new Birkin bag made me someone special. Even when I have all that stuff I will not have it in me to be a snob.
You know why?
You can take the girl out the country but you can’t take the country out...
He gets it...
